Thread Lifts
Non-surgical lifting and tightening using dissolvable PDO threads placed along the planes of the face.
- Duration
- 60 minutes
- Downtime
- Swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising for 5–10 days.
- Results
- Immediate lift, refining over 8–12 weeks as collagen forms.
- Sessions
- Lasts 12–18 months; mono threads are often repeated at 6–9 months

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are placed under the skin to reposition tissue that has descended, and to provoke a controlled healing response that lays down new collagen along the thread's path. Barbed lifting threads carry tissue; finer mono threads are used to firm and refine an area rather than to lift it.
Threads are not a facelift and we are careful to say so. They suit mild to moderate laxity in patients who want definition restored without surgery. Where laxity is advanced, we will tell you that a thread lift is unlikely to satisfy you rather than sell you a course of them.
Benefits
- Immediate repositioning of the jawline, cheek and brow
- Ongoing collagen stimulation as the threads dissolve
- No general anaesthetic and no surgical scarring
- Fully absorbable — nothing permanent is left behind

What happens during treatment
Assessment
Skin quality and the degree of laxity are assessed to confirm that threads are the right tool.
Mapping & anaesthetic
Vectors are marked on the face and local anaesthetic is placed at the entry points.
Placement
Threads are introduced through a fine cannula along the planned vectors and tension is set.
Aftercare
Sleeping position, chewing and facial movement advice is given for the first two weeks.
Common questions
No. A facelift removes and repositions tissue surgically and lasts far longer. Threads reposition tissue temporarily and stimulate collagen. If your laxity is advanced, we will say that threads are unlikely to give you the result you want.
Some patients feel tightness or a slight pulling for one to two weeks, particularly on wide smiling. This settles as the threads integrate.
